Chapter 20: My Baby is Going to be 1!!!

June 13, 2016

Y'all I cannot believe it, but I am about to have a one year old in a couple of weeks. I am still in awe that I have kept a whole human alive for almost a year. It is pretty darn amazing! But before we get into all of that, let me catch you all up on what has been going on.

From February until May, I had the opportunity to work in my dream job! I absolutely LOVED what I was doing. I was busy, I was learning and was rocking it! However, I missed my baby girl something terrible! I developed a new found respect for working moms. Not to say that I knocked the working mother in anyway whatsoever. But you cannot fully appreciate certain things until you experience them. I was exhausted in the beginning, because I had to commute a little over an hour to get work and back home. The biggest blessing of all of this was that my mother was able to come to my house and keep my daughter; which was no easy task for her working full time from home.

Although, I enjoyed working and having adult conversations again, I knew in my heart that I wanted to be at home with my baby full time. I desire to take care of my home and I am perfectly okay with that. I want working to be a choice and not a need. I actually enjoy my child. I actually enjoy taking care of my home. But if I am being real with myself, my heart's desire is to be a stay at home mom. Now, I would like to find something I can do that will allow me to bring in some income. *Cue finish writing my book*

Anyway, I am really excited about my baby turning one! My little preemie rock star has come so far. She has reached all of her milestones. She even can say "dada". Even after I ask her to say "mama". :-/ Gosh she is so beautiful! There is not a day that goes by that I do not thank the Lord for blessing me with such a gift. It really is a honor and a privilege to become a mother. Even when she is not being the sweet little angel :-).

I am super excited about her birthday weekend. We are going to do a pool party (Little Mermaid theme), getting her dedicated back to Christ and going to her NICU reunion. She is the busiest one year old, that I know. Surprisingly, I do not feel overwhelmed with the party planning. I am going to be baking her cupcakes and cake for her party. Y'all just pray that I can get this frosting down before the party. Lol! The cupcakes taste so delicious, but I cannot seem to make the frosting look pretty. Oh well... such is life!

Also, I will starting a new blog with a friend of mine. Stay tuned for my details!
